Ukraine - One Patient at a Time
How would you like to make a week of your time count for Christ in lonely places of the 3rd world where people feel rejected and forgotten? Where there is practically no health care, and what little is available is unaffordable to the people in the rural villages? Where people are still reeling from the fall of Communism which collapsed their belief system and their economy? Where there is a vacuum of hope and faith?
Where but Ukraine? Not Russia, but an independent nation still living in the oppressive shadow of its aggressive neighbor. 48 million people, of whom less than 1% are evangelical believers. How can we even begin to reach the many unreached? ONE PATIENT AT A TIME. Showing that one person the love of Jesus Christ through godly health care that does make a difference in that one life. Previous teams have experienced the great need and the patients begging them to return. How desperately they need help the overwhelming needs! Teams go to Ukraine two to three times each year but there are also opportunities to build other teams of career missionaries to reach other parts of the country.
We live in the city of Odessa on the Black Sea and visit a different village every day where ABWE is assisting established churches or helping to plant churches. Patients battling their illnesses will come to a clinic in a Baptist church, whereas they would never darken the door of a Baptist service. What an opening to share Christ through our lives and through our testimonies!
Primary care provider needed in the spring
God has called 3 dentists to do two weeks of clinics in villages around Odessa and Kharkov. My FNP colleague Holly Friesen will be on furlough. I cannot handle the hoards of medical patients alone!
A family physician, internist, ER doctor, or an experienced FNP or PA, who is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. You will need to fill out an application.
April 11-28, 2013, including travel
The actual clinics will be Monday-Friday, April 15-19 & 22-26.
If you cannot come for the entire two weeks, you could come for just one week.
“Jesus went about all the…villages, teaching…, preaching…, and healing ...
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them.”
Do you know someone you could recommend? Could YOU help? Please contact me soon.
